Upon installation, Independent Analytics uploads a database file called iawp-geo-db.mmdb your /wp-content/uploads/ folder. This file maps IP addresses to geolocations and is how Independent Analytics is able to geolocate your visitors.
If your site uses Cloudflare, you have the option to use geolocation data provided directly by Cloudflare instead.
Enable geolocation headers in Cloudflare
First, visit the Rules > Settings menu and enable the Add visitor location headers option in Cloudflare.

This makes the location headers available for Independent Analytics to read when someone visits your website.
If you don’t enable this option, Independent Analytics won’t show the option to enable Cloudflare tracking in its Settings menu.
Enable Cloudflare tracking in Independent Analytics
Once you’ve enabled the location headers in Cloudflare, head to the Analytics > Settings menu in Independent Analytics. Then, scroll down to the Geolocation Provider section.

From here, you can select the Cloudflare option and click the Save button. You’ll see a confirmation that tracking is working after saving your settings.

Once enabled, Independent Analytics will delete the MMDB file in your /wp-content/uploads/ folder and use the geolocation headers provided by Cloudflare instead.
The geolocations derived from Cloudflare will be more accurate and consistent than those discovered with the MMDB file. For this reason, we recommend that all websites using Cloudflare switch to this new option.
