How to Find Abandoned Carts with the User Journeys Report

You can now find shoppers who abandoned their carts in the User Journeys report!

The key is to filter the sessions by those with zero gross sales and a click on an Add to Cart button. This reveals everyone who added an item to their cart but didn’t complete a purchase.

Follow our tutorial on tracking clicks on Add to Cart buttons to learn how to do this on your site.

We've just updated the User Journeys report so you can use it to find people who have abandoned their carts on your website.

The key is to add a filter for the gross sales. Now if you search for gross sales greater than zero this is gonna show all of the sessions where somebody purchased something. What wasn't working properly before is if you searched for gross sales equal to zero. We fixed that so now it's bringing up all the sessions where somebody didn't buy anything.

That on its own isn't that useful but you can add another filter condition for people who clicked on a link and then as long as you're tracking clicks on your Add to Cart buttons you can filter like this to find all the sessions where somebody clicked on the Add to Cart button but they didn't buy anything. In other words this is going to uncover sessions for all of your abandoned carts.

Then you can browse through all of these different sessions and you can see what these people have in common where they dropped off your site and use this data to better understand why people visit your website and don't end up buying anything.
