Independent Analytics does its best to filter out as many bot visits as possible.
Generally speaking, any bot that identifies itself as a bot is ignored. For instance, views from search engine and SEO crawlers are discarded. These make up the majority of bot visits on the web.
When compared with analytics tools like Google Analytics, you’ll find that the total views and visitors are nearly the same with this form of bot detection implemented.
How to block all bots
If a bot sufficiently obscures itself, it will get past our detection, and its views will be recorded. If you find that you are getting too many bot views, we highly recommend using Cloudflare.
The free tier of Cloudflare will help to block bots from accessing your site. You can also enable Bot Fight Mode, which will eliminate nearly all visits from unverified bots.
Detecting bots that attempt to hide their nature is a complex technical feat and outside the scope of our analytics solution, so we will always recommend Cloudflare as the best tool to defend your site from bot traffic.
